Scavenger Hunt

The scene is set for eleven months after leaving the service. The smile slowly dims from the amount of “no’s” one has received from all the job interviews. The veteran begins to realize that short-term odd jobs could provide some relief to the grumblings in his stomach. So, the veteran cleans windows, washes cars, sells discount cards, donates plasma, and other quick fixes for cash. A few months go by from being cold, frustrated, and sleeping in his car in whichever parking lot that looks inviting, the veteran has an epiphany.
The veteran realizes that he has a certain special skill set that can be used for civilian applications. The veteran goes to his hidden storage unit, and takes inventory of all weapons (gel blasters) and ammo (water-filled gel pellets). The veteran updates the resume to include black ops tactics, negotiation and coercion tactics, and mercenary capabilities.
The veteran discovers that there is no shortage of employers willing to hire these special skill sets. The veteran finds a balance in doing odd jobs during the day, and freelance work at night. After a couple months of this, the veteran transitions from homelessness and leases a two-bedroom apartment (with a secret entrance), close to family…but not too close.
